CURIGLIM MET SR 1.5MG is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise in type 2 diabetes mellitus:
Glimepiride stimulates functioning beta cells in the pancreatic islets to release insulin by closing ATP-sensitive potassium channels. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production (gluconeogenesis), decreases intestinal glucose absorption, and enhances peripheral insulin sensitivity by activating AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK).
Timing: Must be taken once daily with breakfast or the first main meal of the day to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia and stomach upset.
Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water; do not crush, split, or chew the sustained-release tablet.
Consistency: Take consistently at the same mealtime every day alongside an active lifestyle and prescribed meal plan.
Storage: Store at room temperature in a dry place protected from excessive moisture and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
Caution: Carry a quick source of simple sugar (e.g., glucose candy or juice) to manage potential hypoglycemia symptoms such as shakiness, sweating, and dizziness.
Warning: Avoid excessive alcohol intake due to the risk of lactic acidosis; not for use in type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
